Laboratory Testing Services

Our hospital uses an in-house laboratory to perform testing for pets with urgent health problems. We can get results within minutes while you wait during your appointment. For the more comprehensive tests that do not require fast results, we send samples to our partner lab, IDEXX, for analysis. Once your pet’s results are sent back to us, we’ll get in touch with you to explain your pet’s results and recommend additional treatment if needed.

We recommend routine lab testing for dogs and cats to screen for illness. These tests include:

  • Complete blood count (CBC)
  • Comprehensive blood panels
  • Heartworm testing
  • Tick-borne disease testing
  • Fecal exam
  • Therapeutic testing

Does Your Pet Need an X-ray?

Piscataqua Animal Hospital also offers in-house digital radiology. We might recommend X-rays for your pet if they’re having trouble breathing, have an ongoing cough, or are showing signs of joint or back pain. Radiographs can show us issues related to the heart, lungs, and musculoskeletal system. All radiographs are sent to board-certified radiologists for review, so we can get a better diagnosis for your pet. These evaluations take about an hour.
